Pressure Formers
Pressure Formers | Velocity Formers | Fourdriniers
The uniqueness of the HORNE HP 2100 Pressure Former is in its modular design. Components can be easily removed and reinstalled to meet new grade requirements. This particular feature allows the HORNE Pressure Former to be designed for operation on cylinder board machines or fourdrinier machines as a secondary headbox.
The HORNE Pressure Former consists of three distinct interlinked sections: the Tapered Inlet, the Turbulent Generator and the Lid-Forming Section. The tapered inlet maximizes uniform distribution of stock across the former. The back plate of the tapered inlet, which is made in three sections, allows adjustment on the return end. The roofglass can also be altered on the inlet end. These custom features ensure the best possible formation and profile. The 'Z' Shaped Turbulent Generator causes simultaneous blending of stock, delivering a homogeneous pressurized flow. The HORNE Pressure Former is manufactured as a fixed throat or Variable Throat (VT) Former, which acts as an adjustable slice. With 'on the fly' variable throat adjustment, the former provides a wider spectrum of runnability. This VT Former enhances the squareness of the sheet through rush/drag velocity changes.
The HORNE Pressure Formers are most commonly installed in the top and bottom liner positions to provide the greatest cross machine tensile enhancement. Once liner positions have formers in operation, mills often install formers in the filler plys as well.
The HORNE HP Pressure Former provides an economical method of achieving increased production speeds. While using a minimum amount of furnish, the HORNE Pressure Former produces a uniform sheet with excellent coverage and quality. Savings are realized by reducing the stock required for necessary coverage.
